Patterned fabrics have a repeated pattern either down their length,
horizontally across their width, or both.
The interval at which a pattern is
duplicated or repeated on a piece of fabric is known as the repeat
and is typically measured in inches.
In the examples above, the pink solid fabric
(A) has no repeat because it has no pattern.
The striped fabric shown has a horizontal repeat (B) but no vertical
repeat because this striped pattern runs the entire length of the fabric bolt.
The floral fabric has both a vertical repeat (C) and a horizontal
repeat (D). In this example, the repeat is the distance, in inches, between the flowers.
A fabric's repeat can be a small measurement, an example
being a small repeating checked pattern. It can also be a large measurement,
as in a large floral pattern.
When a pattern's repeat
is over 8", pattern-matching at the seams of upholstery may require
more fabric.

repeat, just call Customer Service. We'll let you know how much you'll need to buy.
