"Your Own
Fabric"
We
want your furniture to be just the way you want it. If you don't find
just the right fabric in our collection,
you can send us your own fabric. We've developed a checklist to make
this simple (and dare we say fun?)! Follow our directions and expect
great things from Clasen Home! Read
the checklist here.
"Your Own Fabric" Form
On each product page, you will find a link to the "Your Own
Fabric" form. We have created this form so that you can indicate
how our sewers and upholsterers should apply your fabrics
and trims. Please complete this form and send it with your fabric.
We'll make your special furniture just as it appears in our catalog
unless you let us know your special requests. We encourage you to call
us to check if your special directions can be fulfilled.
What kind of fabric should I look for?
Medium to heavyweight cottons and blends or upholstery-grade "home decorating" fabrics are ideal. We recommend choosing a fabric with at least a 54" width. Velvets and silks may also be used on some furniture - please call customer service to inquire.
How Much Fabric Will I Need to Buy?
You will find the yardage requirements for each piece of furniture
listed on its product page.
If you are using railroaded fabric (generally a striped pattern) or a fabric with a very large pattern repeat, we may require a bit more
yardage for pattern-matching at the seams. Gathered headboard bands require an additional yard of fabric, as does headboard channeling. Treatments
such as tufting will also increase the amount of fabric required.
Please call Customer Service if any of these situations applies to your
order.
If you are sending twist cord to be used in place of welt, please call
for yardage. Clasen Home will supply the hardware for fabric-covered
buttons - you need only send the fabric to cover them! Any fabric we don't use will be returned to you with your finished furniture.
Tricky Fabrics & Trims
Although rare, some fabrics are impractical for our production process, and we
reserve the right to decline those fabrics. Examples of impractical fabrics
would be very stretchy fabrics or transparent fabrics. For ethical reasons,
we do not accept leather or animal fur. We can (and do) work with vinyl and
faux fur! If you are using twist cord in place of the welt on a product,
you must supply a twist cord with a sewable lip.
Pricing and Payment
Clasen Home products are listed at our lowest price for the "Your Own Fabrics"
service. We require a down payment when we process your order. Work
will begin on your product when we receive the fabric and payment. The other
portion is payable when we ship out your order. Please note that COM orders
are non-returnable. See our customer service page for full details on our shipping
policies.
